Community Health Services, Inc. (CHS) is a private nonprofit (501 (c)3) Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) with two locations in the Greater Hartford area. CHS is the second oldest health center in the state of Connecticut with a legacy that spans over 50 years. Community Health Services, Inc.’s team members must work in at least a 20 hour/week position to be eligible for health & welfare benefits. Coverage begins on the first day of hire.
Community Health Services, Inc.’s offers two Point of Service (POS) plans & two High Deductible Health Plans (HDHP) with a Health Savings Account (HSA) with an employer contribution.
Two Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) dental plans are offered. Both cover preventive care, plus basic and major restorative services. One plan also includes orthodontia benefits for employees plus qualifying adult and child dependents.
Vision coverage provides covers reimbursements for a routine vision eye exam and hardware coverage for frames, lens and contacts. You will be automatically enrolled in the vision plan for yourself and any of your dependents that you enroll in the medical plan and Community Health Services will pay for this benefit in full.
Set aside earnings on a pre-tax basis in a flexible spending account to pay for certain out-of-pocket health care related expenses and/or dependent care services costs.
Community Health Services, Inc. provides some level of group life insurance at no cost. Additional coverage for employees, a spouse, domestic partner and dependent children is also available.

We offer a flexible approach to Paid Time Off (PTO), to be used for vacation, sick, holiday and personal days. Employees accrue PTO beginning the first pay period. Additional PTO hours are accrued during the year based on years of employment and job category.
Short Term Disability (STD) provides up to 60 percent of base pay, up to $1,500 per week, for an employee’s own accident, illness or injury. Benefit payments start on the 1st day for accident and on the 8th day for illness/sickness and continue up to a maximum of 13 weeks.
Long Term Disability provides 60 percent of salary, up to $6,000 per month, after a 90-day elimination period.
We sponsor a 401(k)plan comprised of two components:
- Employee contributions (up to the IRS maximum annually)
- Matching contribution (100% for the first 3% employee contributes, then 50% employer match for 3% – 5% of employee contribution)
Employees have 24/7 access to two (2) EAPs, Lincoln Employee Assistance and Aetna Employee Assistance program – which offers basic counseling, financial information and legal support. This is a company-sponsored benefit, at no cost to the employee.
