We are seeking a Pediatric RN to join our Department of Pediatrics at Community Health Services (CHS). The Pediatric RN will help deliver comprehensive quality patient care according to standards of practice to children and adolescents. The Clinical Director of the department is Dr. Zeev Harel, former Brown University Medical School Professor of Pediatrics. Levels of employees’ engagement and satisfaction in this department are above national average.
Responsibilities:
Provide care to children and adolescents, in collaboration with department physicians, pediatric nurse practitioners, and pediatric physician assistant.
Assist in triaging patients both in person and on the phone.
Assist pediatric providers with exams, treatments, and procedure as needed.
Administer medications and vaccinations at the order of prescribing provider or under standing orders as established by CHS. Provide patient education as appropriate to the administered medication/vaccination.
Serve as the back-up vaccine coordinator for Department of Public Health.
Accurately document all aspects of patient care in the medical chart in a timely manner.
Coordinate patient care with team members, other departments, and community agencies as necessary.
Participate in departmental quality improvement activities and CHS committees.
Act as a resource person for medical assistants regarding patient preparations and procedures as needed.
Adhere to all CHS’ policies and procedures regarding documentation of medication and information provided to patients.
The incumbent in this position should:
Be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing; an Associate’s Degree in Nursing required, Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.
Possess a valid State of Connecticut RN licensure
Have a deep knowledge of nursing practice, coupled with a record of providing high quality, comprehensive, professional clinical care to patients according to established standards and protocols.
Have one to two years of nursing experience, preferably in Pediatrics.
Preferably, have experience with CT WiZ immunization program
Possess the ability to provide culturally competent care to a diverse patient population in a collaborative environment.
Be able to communicate effectively with patients, peers, and other stakeholders both orally and in writing.
Be comfortable using electronic health record and other computer systems.
Be willing to perform other duties as assigned.
