Community Health Services, Inc. is seeking an experienced Infection Control and Prevention Manager in our Quality Department. The Infection Control and Prevention Manager provides acts as the organization’s subject matter expert on infection control matters, while overseeing all organizational infection control and prevention activities including risk assessments, surveillance, data collection and analysis, communicable disease reporting, and infection control-related policies and procedures.

The successful candidate will:

  • Possess a Master’s Degree in Nursing or Public Health, be a Certified Medical Technologist, or have a Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology or Epidemiology.
  • Possess an APIC certification or have the ability to obtain one within 1 year of hire.
  • Possess a CPR certification at the healthcare provider level or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire.
  • Have 2 years of experience coordinating infection control and prevention activities in a clinical or public health setting.
  • Have Two (2) years of experience in the development and implementation of infection control policies and procedures
  • Have deep knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Act as the organization’s subject matter in advising clinical staff on the resolution of infection control related questions and concerns
  • Conduct appropriate investigation and analysis of actual and potential infection related exposures and/or outbreaks
  • Develop, review, and update infection control related policies and procedures that support compliance with evidence-based standards (CDC, APIC, SHEA, WHO, etc.), as well as regulatory and accreditation expectations (HRSA, TJC, OSHA, CDC, DPH, etc.)
  • Monitor compliance with infection control and prevention policies and procedures through direct surveillance and via established internal systems and supports, including e.g. Infection Control Liaisons
  • Oversee the development of key infection control and prevention metrics, data collection and analysis, and present information and recommendations to various internal and external forums
  • Conduct an infection control risk assessment and oversee the development, approval, and implementation of an annual Infection Control and Prevention Work Plan that includes specific and measurable achievement goals for priority focus areas
  • In collaboration with the Chief Medical Officer, facilitates the meetings and other activities of the Infection Control Committee
  • Oversee the organization’s instrument reprocessing functions, including sterilization and high-level disinfection
  • Conduct an Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) prior to the initiation of any construction or renovation projects\
  • Represent the infection prevention function in support of the work of the Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement Committee, the Environment of Care Committee, and the Safety Committees
  • Collaborate with Facilities and the Manager of Patient Care System to conduct environmental rounding, and facilitate and track post-rounding action plans
  • Provide clinical support for the review of new products
  • Investigate reported infection control incidents and recommend both immediate and long-term changes in systems, processes, and training necessary to address specific incidents and trends.
  • As part of a cross-departmental team, facilitates the development, review, and implementation of the organization’s Emergency Preparedness Plan
  • Conduct regular audits of the environment of care dashboard to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Maintain required training for competency of CPR, HIPAA and Compliance, Waived testing, Infection Control, sterilization (if appropriate), and other topics as assigned.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with CHS Core Values, Compliance Program, and other policies and procedures
  • Participate in quality and process improvement efforts in the department and the organization as requested or as directed
  • Complete training and professional development requirements in a timely manner
